Katerina Zymni-Georgalou, Ph.D., ECP

Short Biography

Katerina Zymni-Georgalou was born and raised in Buenos Aires, where she studied Economics at the University of Belgrano. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of La Verne, California, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Panteion University, Athens. She trained in the Adlerian approach, completing programs at Florida Atlantic University and the Adlerian Training Institute. She has also completed training programs in the Systemic Approach, Family Therapy, and Therapeutic Group Process at the Athens Center for the Study of the Human (ΑΚΜΑ).

She works with certification from the E.A.P. (European Association for Psychotherapy), primarily with adults. She has served as President of the Hellenic Adlerian Psychology Society and as a board member of the Hellenic Counseling Association. She is a recognized member of Hellenic Society for Systemic Therapy (ΕΛΕΣΥΘ) and the European Family Therapy Association (EFTA). She is co-founder and member of the Hellenic Society of Positive Psychology (ΕΕΘΕΨΥ) and co-founder and board member of Federation for Existential Therapy in Europe (FETE). She organizes seminars for companies and large organizations and participates in conferences and trainings in mental health both in Greece and abroad.

Since 2004, she has been co-founder, co-director, and trainer at the Hellenic Association for Existential Psychology. Her engagement with the existential approach began through her two-and-a-half-year work with a support group at the Women’s Prison of Korydallos. Her contact with the work of prominent teachers of existential thought has further deepened her understanding of humanity, the human pursuit of meaning in life, and the universal existential issues that concern us all.
