Dimitra Athanasakou
Short Biography
Dimitra Athanasakou is a psychologist and graduate of Panteion University. After completing her undergraduate studies at Panteion, she trained as an existential psychotherapist in the four-year program of the Hellenic Association for Existential Psychology, “Gignesthai,” where she now also serves as a trainer. She later returned to Panteion for postgraduate studies in “Positive Psychology: Counseling Applications,” which she completed in February 2018. She has worked as a psychologist at the Ministry of Citizen Protection, providing psychological support to foreign detainees in Hellenic Police (ΕΛ.ΑΣ.) facilities and in juvenile reception centers in Amygdaleza. She also collaborated for four years with Psy-Diktyo (ψ-δίκτυο), providing low-cost psychological services to economically vulnerable individuals. Additionally, she has volunteered at the Counseling and Psychological Service of Arsakeia-Tositseia Schools and at the Hellenic Center for Child and Family Health and Therapy, Perivolaki. Since September 2014, she has been a contributing editor for the magazine Epohi, which focuses on phenomenology and existentialism. She is a member of the Hellenic Psychological Society (ΣΕΨ) and the Society for Existential Analysis (SEA) and is a certified psychotherapist through the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP). She currently maintains a private practice in Nea Erythraia, working with adults and adolescents.
