Short Biography
Alexis Charisiadis, Ph.D., M.Sc., holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Panteion University. He studied Psychology at the University of La Verne and holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology (M.Sc. in Counseling Psychology). He is co-founder, co-director, and trainer of “Gignesthai,” the Hellenic Association for Existential Psychology. He is also a member of the Hellenic Society for Positive Psychology and participates in the research group on Positive Emotions. He collaborates with the University of Thessaly, where he has taught the existential approach in psychotherapy at the postgraduate level. He presents existential psychotherapy topics in the form of seminars or lectures, both for the general public and for mental health professionals. In addition to his studies in psychology, he is a graduate of the Athens University of Economics and Business (Α.Σ.Ο.Ε.Ε.) and holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.). In the past, he founded and directed the company Brainmates, which specialized in organizing seminars and training groups for corporations. His study and engagement with Existential Philosophy began from the need to explore and focus on existential issues — such as human freedom and responsibility, the meaning of existence, mortality and loss, existential loneliness, and our relationships with others — which fundamentally and inherently concern every human being. Since 2012, he has been developing the concept of Existential-Poetic Psychotherapy, which he has presented at scientific conferences and lectures. This approach integrates the poetic element in all forms of art within the framework of existential psychotherapy.
