Our Certifications and Awards

From the very beginning of its operation, Gignesthai has held all the necessary certifications from the relevant official national and European bodies, consistently adhering to their exact standards as these are periodically updated. In the summer of 2023, both Gignesthai and Dr. Eugenia Georganta, Psy.D., ECP, were honored for their overall contribution with the prestigious Charlotte & Karl Bühler Award by the American Psychological Association (APA – Division 32, Society for Humanistic Psychology). In the winter of 2026, within the framework of the Annual Online Conference of the Existential Movement, Dr. Georganta was awarded the Socrates Medal in recognition of her longstanding and devoted contribution to existential and humanistic psychology.

2023 Award

In the summer of 2023, Dr. Eugenia Georganta, Psy.D., ECP was invited to a distinguished award ceremony organized by the American Psychological Association (APA – Division 32), where she received the prestigious Charlotte and Karl Bühler Award. This recognition honored both Dr. Georganta personally and Gignesthai as an institution for their outstanding, enduring, and transformative contributions to the advancement and promotion of Humanistic Psychology. The award was presented during the APA annual convention in August 2023, held in Washington, D.C., in a heartfelt and intimate ceremony. Erik Craig, reflecting on the significance of their work and the profound impact on the field, emphasized the dedication, vision, and sustained commitment of Dr. Georganta and Gignesthai. The award was officially conferred on behalf of this year’s award chair, Dr. Theopia Jackson, Ph.D., and the APA Executive Board, highlighting the international recognition of their lifelong achievements in the humanistic and existential psychological community.

2026 Award

In February 2026, during its Annual Online Conference, the Existential Movement awarded the Socrates Medal to Dr. Eugenia Georganta in recognition of her longstanding and devoted contribution to existential and humanistic psychology.

This award constitutes the highest honorary distinction of the Existential Movement and is presented each year to distinguished individuals who have dedicated their lives and work to the dissemination of wisdom and a deeper understanding of human existence. The conferral of the award upon Dr. Georganta acknowledges her long-standing contribution to the advancement of existential psychotherapy both in Greece and internationally, her educational and scholarly work, as well as her steadfast commitment to cultivating a psychotherapy grounded in humanistic and existential principles. As stated by the Existential Movement, her presence and work represent a living expression of the movement’s core tenet, Sapientia ad mundum — meaning “bringing wisdom to the world” — as through her many years of therapeutic, educational, and scientific activity, Dr. Georganta has made a substantial contribution to the dissemination of existential thought and to the strengthening of human dignity and responsibility.
