Celebrating 20 Years of Presence

A conference dedicated to the twenty-year journey of Gignesthai

A meeting of four people with a shared desire, back in distant 2004, led to the creation of Gignesthai, the Hellenic Association for Existential Psychology. A meeting of four people with a common vision, shared references, and a strong interest in the existential approach became reality, and on Saturday, December 7, 2024, Gignesthai celebrated, together with its cherished partners and fellow travelers, 20 years of active presence. Eugenia Georganta, Katerina Zymni-Georgalou, and Alexis Charisiadis had the honor of welcoming to this uniquely special event many of Gignesthai’s graduates, students, colleagues, trainers, and friends, sharing with them memories and reflections from a unique journey that still continues.

We celebrate 20 years of companionship, support, and continuous deepening, renewing our shared love, care, and commitment to the existential approach through a symposium dedicated to Gignesthai, which connects us and holds a special place in our hearts.

In an atmosphere of emotion and deep gratitude, Gignesthai welcomed its friends and fellow travelers: the beloved co-founder Evi Dalla, many of its former and current colleagues and collaborators — Maria Malikiosi-Loizou, Giorgos Kleftaras, Dionysis Sakkas, Eirini Karakasidou, Agathi Lakioti, Anny Benetou, Thanasis Georgas, Anna Karali, Maria Korre, Despina Balliou, Christina Boufali-Bavella with her volunteer team, and Anna Kourti — and shared with the audience many of the memories and feelings that arose from the unique moments of their twenty-year journey. They spoke from the heart about self-actualization, their personal perspective on existentialism, the values that shape and sustain their groups, their view on positive psychology, their shared love for phenomenology, their volunteer work, and concluded by reflecting on what it truly means to be connected en tō gignesthai — within the ongoing process of becoming.
